Farmers deliver their crop to a Cargills collection center that has benefit from volunteer technical assistance under the Facilitating Economic Growth program.

Sri Lanka FEG provides direct, targeted assistance to enterprises, agribusinesses, related associations, NGOs, USAID and other USAID programs, largely through the use of volunteer experts.

The activities are structured as a USAID support program to:

  • Assist the Mission in identifying technical assistance needs in strategic provinces
  • Develop technical assistance to targeted businesses and sectors
  • Identify and develop public-private partnerships to more effectively leverage resources
  • Reengineer businesses processes in the enterprises and organizations that receive support
  • Develop new products and services in these enterprises
  • Improve agricultural production techniques in the agricultural entities that receive support
  • Convey a better understanding of and access to new buyers and markets
  • Improve access to finance and financial management
