Members of the Senate sent a letter of support for VEGA to USAID Acting Administrator Wade Warren. In the letter, Senators John Boozman (R-AR), Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Johnny Isakson (R-GA) urged USAID to preserve its successful partnership with VEGA. Read more

Thirty-one Engineers Without Borders USA (EWB-USA) chapters representing 25 different states and thousands of engineers across the country sent a letter of support for VEGA to Members of Congress. In the letter they urged Congress to act immediately to ensure the partnership between VEGA and USAID is renewed, allowing EWB-USA and VEGA’s 28 other Members to continue generating more prosperity worldwide. Kenex Sevilla uses his skills as an engineer to support communities in the developing world, including near his birthplace in Nicaragua. With VEGA Member Engineers Without Borders USA (EWB-USA) Kenex helped develop a water distribution system in Honduras that provided clean drinking water for more than 70 households. Read more

Program Snapshot: Feed the Future Tanzania Enabling Growth Through Investment and Enterprise Program
The new, four-year program awarded though VEGA to VEGA Member International Executive Service Corps (IESC), seeks to streamline many of the regulatory, information and financial channels that encourage domestic and foreign investment, resulting in increased revenue for small enterprises, new jobs for youth and access to loans for growing businesses. FSVC Launches Program to Assist National Bank of Moldova
VEGA Member Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC) announced the launch of a technical assistance program to help support economic growth by improving the institutional capacity of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM). The new program is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and is administered through VEGA. Watch the video and learn more here.
This week, VEGA Pesident & CEO Mike Deal and VEGA Director of Corporate Partnerships Daniel Wolf are in Durban, South Africa to take part in the World Economic Forum on Africa. Individual development programs sometimes neglect to coordinate with one another to maximize their impact, and occasionally, efforts can be duplicative. To do development well, we must apply integrated and robust solutions and cultivate a culture of collaboration and learning. Volunteer Helps South African Farmers Overcome Education Gaps Left by Apartheid
When Lushof Farm began expanding rapidly, Farm Manager Warren Bam was faced with a problem—hire outside help or promote the farm workers who had recently become part owners, but lacked adequate education. That’s when Warren learned about Farmer-to-Farmer and met Dr. Coultas, who changed his life. Six years later, Warren felt compelled to say thank you in person. Read more
