VEGA Receives LWA Extension

President & CEO, VEGA

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the VEGA Board of Directors and our 29 Member NGOs, we are very pleased to share with you the good news that our partnership with USAID through VEGA’s Leader with Associate (LWA) award has been renewed for another 3 months!

As you may know, we have been working for several months to educate members of Congress and the new administration about the extraordinary impact being made by skilled volunteers around the globe and here at home. Our goal has been to ensure that our model for utilizing skilled volunteers in U.S. global development efforts is continued and expanded.

This extension will allow the incoming USAID Administrator, once confirmed, time to consider VEGA’s valuable contributions and determine next steps for our partnership. We are very pleased that the current leadership at USAID chose to provide the next Administrator and the Field Missions around the world with this continuity and opportunity.

We also are very grateful to our many members and partners who have provided critical support to our advocacy efforts. We are also deeply appreciative of our bipartisan congressional champions who sent letters of support for VEGA: Sens. Boozman, Leahy and Isakson; as well as Reps. Hill, Cicilline, Donovan, Connolly, Sherman, Shea-Porter, Beyer and Chris Stewart.

We are very encouraged and enthusiastic about the possibilities for continuing our successful partnership to engage the generous skills and spirit of the American people in generating more prosperity around the globe.

Sincerely,

Michael Deal
President & CEO of VEGA
